Four days after the death of six youths in the horrific accident that took place on the night of 11 November at ONGC Chowk, Cantt Police has registered a case against the container driver for negligent driving. This case has been registered on the basis of the complaint of the father of Siddhesh Agarwal, the only survivor of this accident.
Let us tell you that, at ONGC Chowk, the Innova car collided with the rear of a container and crashed into a tree, in which six friends of Siddhesh, who were travelling in the car, died. These include three young women as well. Siddhesh is undergoing treatment at Synergy Hospital. After the incident, the container driver fled leaving the vehicle in running condition.
Siddhesh’s father Vipin Kumar Agarwal, a resident of Rajpur Road, told the police in his complaint that on the night of 11 November, his son was going from Ballupur Chowk to Kaulagarh Chowk in an Innova car with his friends. It is alleged that during this time a container came in front of them, which was in a dilapidated condition. The car crashed after colliding with the container.
Search for absconding driver continues – Inspector in-charge of Cantt police station KC Bhatt said that on the basis of the complaint, a case of negligent driving has been registered against the unknown driver of the container. The driver is absconding since the incident and is being searched for.
A person from Khatauli had bought the container – In the preliminary investigation, the police has found out that the container (HR-55-J-4348) which caused the accident is registered in the name of BRC Logistics Private Limited Gurugram Haryana in the records of the Transport Department. The container was registered in Gurugram RTO on 12 August-2009, whose fitness expired on 16 August-2013.
The tax of the container expired on 31 March-2015 and the insurance also expired 10 years ago. It has also been learnt that the company had sold this container to a person from Khatauli, but the name of the vehicle owner was not changed in the records. It has also been learnt that a person from Shamli Uttar Pradesh is the driver of the container. A police team has been sent to Shamli and Khatauli for investigation.
Responsibility of policemen still not decided – In the case of the horrific accident at ONGC Chowk, the police has registered a case against the container driver, but has not yet fixed the responsibility of any policeman in the case of negligence in night checking. Before the accident, the Innova kept roaming in the whole city and passed through many checkpoints, but this car was not stopped anywhere.
The police is claiming that the police was deployed at all the pickets throughout the night, but the car not being stopped at any picket is exposing the negligence of the police. On the other hand, if we talk about the Almora bus accident, then in this case, from two ARTOs to the police station-outpost police, action has been taken.
