Many years ago, a king used to rule in the country of Anga. That king had a very beautiful pond, in which there were many fish. The king had hired a fisherman to take care of those fish. That fisherman had a very good nature. He followed all the orders of the king.
Whenever the king felt like eating fish, he used to ask the same fisherman and get the fish of his choice. Every time the fisherman brought very tasty fish for them. One day a question came to the king’s mind how could he catch such a tasty and wonderful fish every time?
Then one day the king comes to know from his spies that the fisherman does not know how to catch fish, but still, he used to bring fish for the king. One day the king thought why not investigate how the fisherman catches fish?
The king immediately ordered the slave and called the fisherman and said, “Listen, today you catch the biggest fish in the pond and bring it for me. I feel like eating fish.” Following the king’s order, the fisherman set out towards the pond to catch fish. The king also followed him quietly.
As soon as the fisherman reached the pond, he recited a mantra and the biggest fish of the pond fell near his feet. Then the fisherman bowed to the pond and left from there towards the palace. The king was watching everything secretly from behind. He was very surprised to see this sight. Then he also went towards his palace.
One day, seeing the opportunity, the king asked the fisherman about his method of fishing. The king said, “Which mantra do you know, when you utter it, the fish automatically comes to you?” Please teach me that mantra also.” The fisherman was surprised to hear the king’s words. He said, “Excuse me, Maharaj! I cannot teach you the pronunciation of this mantra.”
The king did not sit still. He repeatedly insisted on learning the mantra from the fisherman. At last, the fisherman was forced to teach the mantra to the king. After learning the mantra, one day the king went alone to the bank of the pond and recited that mantra. Then a fish came and fell near his feet.
After this, the king became very happy. There was no limit to his happiness. He wanted to tell this to everyone. One day, seeing the opportunity, he told everyone in his court about this mantra. Everyone was astonished to hear the king’s words and asked who told them about this mantra.
On this, the king said, that a long time ago he had met a great sage. It was he who gave them this information about this mantra. Hearing the king’s words, all the ministers also reached the banks of the pond to know the truth and started chanting the mantra. Even after the ministers chanted the mantra several times, not a single fish came out of the pond.
Because of this, the king had to feel very embarrassed in front of all the ministers. After this, he started getting angry at that fisherman and ordered him to be punished. Then suddenly a voice came from the pond, listen Rajan! Not even a single fish came out of the pond; it is not the fisherman’s fault, rather it is your fault. You did not consider your Guru as the Guru, who taught you this mantra. That’s why the fish did not come out of the pond. If you had accepted your Guru, this would not have happened.
After listening to the pond, the king realized his mistake. He immediately apologized to the fisherman and accepted him as his guru. After this the mantra started working and the king also became happy.
Lesson from the story – From this story, we learn that a person should never lie or insult his teacher.
